Dubai, United Arab Emirates
The 18th Pearls in Policing Conference will be hosted in Dubai, UAE, from 10 – 13 May 2025 and is organised by Dubai Police and the Pearls Secretariat in The Netherlands. The theme of the conference is ‘Enhancing Ethical Policing in a rapidly Changing Landscape Dominated by Technology’.
During the Pearls Conference discussions will be based on the research conducted by the members of the International Action Learning Group (IALG), inspiring interactive sessions and peer to peer consultations. The annual conference is the culmination of a year of continuous learning undertaken by the IALG. This learning group will present its findings at the start of the conference. The assignment for the 2024-2025 IALG has been formulated by Netherlands Police: ‘Enhancing Ethical Policing in a rapidly Changing Landscape Dominated by Technology’.
The assignment focuses on exploring strategies to maintain ethical and effective policing amidst societal and technological upheaval. The key question is how to position law enforcement at the forefront of ethical and effective practices by fostering cooperation, responsibly adopting technology, managing cybersecurity, addressing polarization, and ensuring adequate recruitment and retention.
